Settling In at the Lakeside Inn Artist Residency 2023

Currently at the Lakeside Inn artist residency! Settling in and getting organized with places to go see. I expect a LOT of change in the surrounding nature in the next two weeks. That green mist is creeping in, the rain pushing out the tiny leaves on so many bushes and trees. The soggy bark looks melancholy in the wind that can't decide to leave. Storms are on the way anyway, which means the beach will churn up new treasures.

My residency mates are a writer, also from Michigan, and printmaker/ experimenter from the Chiago suburbs. Today she is printing with lego!

I absolutely want to hit the antique stores near here, which are mostly open on weekends only in the off season, to find treasures for still life paintings. Or that’s my excuse. The soft natural light coming in the kitchen is very inspiring for still lifes created with objects other artists have left behind.
